Modafinil
Modafinil is a class of psychostimulant drug designed to
improve memory and enhance or brighten mood. It was approved by the Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998 for treating Narcolepsy, which causes
excessive daytime sleepiness.
What Makes Modafinil Different?
Traditional central nervous stimulants (CNS), used to treat Narcolepsy,
Hypersomnia and Catoplexy, have a number of well documented side effects,
including cardiovascular problems, sleep interference, psychiatric disturbances
and addiction. Modafinil is NOT addictive, as its pharmacological composition is
entirely different. Modafinil induces wakefulness, in part, by its interaction
with the anterior hypothalamus, which stimulates alpha-1 brain receptors that
are responsible for the uptake of nor-adrenaline. Its dopamine-releasing action
is mild and dose-dependent, making the likelihood of a euphoric response,
dose-escalation or becoming tolerant to the drug, extremely unlikely.
What Does Modafinil Treat?
Modafinil is being used successfully to treat many neurological aging diseases
including Narcolepsy, Alzheimer's Disease, Depression, Attention-Deficit
Disorder, Myotonic Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis-induced fatigue,
post-anaesthesia grogginess, cognitive impairment in Schizophrenia, spasticity
associated with Cerebral Palsy, and age-related memory decline. Additionally, it
is used by the armed forces to keep troops awake and alert.
AntiAging Direct offers three brands of Modafinil Alertec, Modiodal and Provigil,
Each has the same number of tablets and milligrams per tablet.
